Summary
Provides exceptional customer service by helping customers make informed decisions about wellness products, including supplements and personal care items, while strictly adhering to DSHEA guidelines. Supports a clean, organized, and well-merchandised department.
Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their wellness goals and provide helpful, general product guidance.
- Educate customers on product features, ingredients, and intended use based on available product information and labeling.
- Clearly avoid diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatments, or making disease-related claims.
- Encourage customers to consult healthcare professionals for medical concerns or conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wellness products, brands, and industry trends.
- Restock shelves, ensure accurate pricing and labeling, and maintain proper product rotation.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and merchandising throughout the department.
- Assist with inventory counts, ordering support, and promotional displays.
- Refer complex or sensitive customer questions to the Wellness Manager.
DSHEA Compliance Expectations
- Do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
- Do not recommend products as a substitute for medical care.
- Only share information that is consistent with product labeling and structure/function claims.
- Use appropriate language such as “may support,” “may help maintain,” or “traditionally used for.”
- When in doubt, defer to management or recommend the customer consult a licensed healthcare provider.
Qualifications
- Interest or background in health, wellness, or nutrition.
- Retail or customer service experience preferred.
- Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to build trust.
- Ability to stay within defined compliance guidelines while still being helpful and engaging.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Performance Expectations
- Customer Service: No incidents of three stars or less in customer reviews.
- Safety: Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Merchandising: Help the department achieve 95% or better in merchandising audits.
- Profit: Help the store meet or beat profit budget.
